We welcome individuals and businesses to open their homes and facilities to our clients to help to integrate them into the community and to teach them appropriate social skills in various situations.
For example, if you are a scout leader, you can invite a few our clients to your troop for a special event. If you are a store owner, you may open your business and allow our clients to come volunteer at your facility.
These opportunities will not only enhance our clients’ ability to socialize with typical developing peers, but also enrich the lives of those who provide the support.
We encourage both businesses and individuals to open their facilities and homes to our students as an aid in integrating them into the larger community. The participation of private citizens is an especially effective way of teaching students social skills in a variety of situations. For example, scout leaders might include a few of our students in a special event that emphasizes interpersonal experiences. Business owners might invite students to become volunteers at official facilities.
These opportunities will not only expand our students’ ability to socialize with typical developing peers, but also meaningfully enhances the lives of supportive volunteers. |
