Individuals with autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, pervasive developmental disorder share a common deficit in social skills. Our program’s primary objective is to have the learner to experience the value of social connection. We accomplish this by targeting critical social skills such as: eye contact, joint attention, social referencing, peer play and conversation, sharing, offering assistance, body language, emotional management, and decision making. All of which aim to help children become more observant and responsive to their environments and social cues, as well as build and sustain stable friendships and facilitate growth and interaction within their home, community and school environments.
Children ages 3 to 13 attend SEEK Education’s Social Skills program in an enriched learning environment that builds critical social skills in a small group setting. Additionally, the children participate in a community group activity or event once per month to practice what they have mastered in the classroom. Parents are included in meetings to further their skills in facilitating their children’s practices outside of group sessions.
