SEEK is currently developing comprehensive support services that will prepare developmentally disabled students of transitional age for stable employment. Our program provides for precise guidance at varied stages of life-planning. We aid our students in identifying suitable vocations and obtaining specific positions in one’s chosen field. Depending on the individual’s existing level of advancement, SEEK also assists students in maintaining and/or advancing their careers. Each student will receive a thorough and individualized treatment plan that includes assessment, one-on-one training, job searching and placement, employer and parent training, behavioral consultations, job coaching, and community networking. Our careful interventions are designed to strengthen the student’s reserve of functional skills, most directly through the empirically validated techniques promoted by Applied Behavior Analysis. SEEK services will be conveniently provided in the individual’s home, school, and related community centers, as well as at the job site.

  Transitional Age
SEEK works closely with school districts and regional centers to effectively train individuals between the ages of 16 and 22. Prevocational assessments evaluate students’ interests, talents, and functional abilities. Our assessments allow us to set more precise goals and to personalize the employment-training process. Following the assessment, we arrange on-going consultations and job coaching at schools, homes and community centers. SEEK’s programs are designed to prepare our students to thrive over time in this new and exciting stage of life.

  Vocational Training
SEEK will aid its students in acquiring those important skills needed for successfully performing their job-related tasks. These practical abilities will be cultivated in settings chosen for their resemblance to real- life job sites. Job Coaches will assess their students’ execution of routine responsibilities, and continue to provide on-site training, supervision and encouragement.

  Job Placement
SEEK is currently establishing relationships with businesses small and large. We offer informative seminars for potential employers interested in the unique gifts and needs of our students. Once a student is placed with a private business, SEEK will continue to guide both employee and employer as part of our long-term strategy for building mutually prosperous partnerships.

Vocational Assessment for Transitioning Age Clients
To better personalize our services, SEEK is developing a vocational assessment and skills tracking system for our transitioning students. This criterion-referenced tool will aid in identifying long-term vocational interests, and evaluate the student’s specific strengths and deficits.
